I've started reading Surfacing by Margaret Atwood. I got my copy at the thrift store - it is filled with haphazard, messy highlights. Whenever I find a book like that, I often try to figure out what the theme of their highlighting is; what was that Women's Lit thesis paper about?

Surfacing is one of the only Atwood books I haven't read, and I'm a little disappointed that I'm not enjoying it as much as some of her other books - particularly because she's getting older and I worry about when she dies and there are no more of her books to read. Each new thing I read by her is like a treasure I'm afraid someone will snatch away.

Dodger and me, making spaghetti after a long day in Crazytown (aka: my job). She is meowing at me. Almost all of her bottom teeth are gone, so she has this little pink lip.

This is bumming me out pretty hard right now. I quite frankly don't give a shit about The Hunger Games, but I am sometimes surprised by how disappointing people can be.

I am applying for a promotion tomorrow.

It's been another busy week here over in real life, so again sorry for the quiet. It is National Embroidery Month, apparently, so maybe I'll use that as an opportunity to showcase some of my past embroidery projects too! Also, my friend Heather and I are working on making dresses for Dress A Girl Around The World, so I'll have some of those to show off too. Enjoy your weekend!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week - sometimes my job is pretty time consuming, and this week I worked 51 hours, so I unfortunately didn't have a lot of time to post, or much to post about. That's also why a lot of my pictures from this week were taken in my room at night - after work. So, my apologies, but I will definitely try to get back on track this week! 

I've got my Heather's cross stitch hoop mostly finished, so once I get that in a final frame I'll have more pictures of that. Also, please check out January 27th's picture and admire this amazing record cover I saw at the thrift store yesterday. Can you believe that baby's never even been taken out of the plastic wrap? Seems like it'd be an instant classic...

Despite my determination, I already missed a day. I didn't have my camera with me on the 9th and my phone battery was too low all day for the camera to work. Oh well. Wabi sabi?

For the last two years, I have tried to take a picture every day. I haven't come close to meeting the every single day goal, but who knows, maybe I will this year.
